Labouchere System

The Labouchere system of betting is stated to be a negative progression system. You may also find this system under the names: Cancellation, Labby, Crossout, and Split Martingale. Being a very popular method of bingo betting - Labouchere system possesses a great number of different variations.
In this article we touch upon the simplest variant of Labouchere system. It's easy to learn and understand. In fact, this system puts in order your betting manipulations and adds sense to your regular gameplay.

Labouchere System Matters

Firstly you write down a set of numbers, e.g.: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.
Still this series of numbers mustn't be sequential and the set, say: 1, 1, 2, 2, 5, 3, 7 would also be fine and work well.
The length of the set is not fixed as well. It corresponds to a game you play (it may not be bingo casino games actually) and odds you have as a rule.
Keep it in mind that numbers you write represents an amount of chips you are going to bet.
The Labouchere system mechanics are the following ones:

  • Simple math actions: you add the 1st number in your set and the last number of series;
  • Results show a number of chips you must bet;
  • In case you win a bet - you cross out the numbers which took part in calculations and switch over to the next 1st and last numbers;
  • The full cycle of Labouchere system is done when the whole set of numbers is crossed out. Then new series of numbers is used;
  • In case you lose a bet - you add the number of units you were betting (1st number + last number results) at the end of series and thus every time you lose.

Labouchere System Usage Example

Now let's consider the visual example of the Labouchere system usage while, say, virtual bingo playing:

  • You have the following set of numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7;
  • Your first bet will be 8 units as you add 1+7, being the 1st and the last numbers of series;
  • If the minimal bet is, say, $5 then you multiply $5 by 8 units = $40 bet;
  • If you win this bet - you cross out numbers 1 and 7 and the next bets of yours will be created by means of remained 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 set;
  • So now you add the next numbers: 2+6=8 units and proceed your $40 betting;
  • If you lose your second $40 bet then you add a number of units were used (8) to a previous set of numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and cross out none. So now you have 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 series;
  • The next round starts with adding 2+8=10 units and this is your bet for now.

The score of Labouchere system is to finish a whole cycle and cross out all numbers in series. The profit is guaranteed in this case.
